iPhone 15 – Key Features and Specifications
Apple has released the new iPhones this year: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. All four models are available for purchase in-store and online. The iPhone 15 lineup sees a transformational change as the company introduced massive upgrades from their former flagship models. One fundamental change is replacing the Lightning port with a USB-C port on the entire lineup. Here are some key features of the iPhone 15 that should not be missed.
Design
All models of the iPhone 15 now feature softer, contoured edges, in contrast to the sharper edges of the iPhone 14. Overall, the contoured edges make the iPhone 15 more comfortable to hold. The titanium frame with brushed metal steel is also seen on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. The phone also features thinner display bezels that give a premium look.
This time, Apple has retained the “pill-shaped” Dynamic Island for all four iPhone models. Also, the standard models on the 15 have the Dynamic Island, making seeing notifications even easier and stylish.
The iPhone 15 Pro features thinner bezels than the iPhone 14 Pro with a bigger camera bump on the back, a USB-C port in favor of a Lightning port, capacitive volume buttons rather than physical ones, and a somewhat more curved design.
Colors
The iPhone 15 comes in the same colors as the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but it also offers a new range of shades. Apple has given the back glass a color-infused frosted matte texture with five color options.
- Blue
- Pink
- Yellow
- Green
- Black
- Camera
Apple has introduced significant camera upgrades to the iphone 15 models. The primary cameras on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have escalated from 12 megapixels to 48 MP. The camera also features a 2x Telephoto lens that gives zooming photos a new depth. This does not imply, however, that the gap between the iPhone 15 and its Pro siblings will be any lower than the standard gap between basic and Pro models. Come September, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are slated to receive significant camera enhancements. One or both versions will sport periscope cameras and the most significant iPhone camera sensors ever. The 12MP selfie camera from the iPhone 14 has been carried over to the standard iPhone 15.
Performance
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus run on the A16 Bionic processor, retained from the iPhone 14 Pro series. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max have Apple’s latest A17 Pro processor. The A17 processor has a 10% faster CPU and 20% faster GPU graphics for a levelled-up gaming experience.
Battery
According to ITHome, the iPhone 15’s battery capacity increases by up to 15%. They also report that the battery capacity increase for the iPhone 15 base model will be 15%, while increases for the iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max would be 12%, 12%, and 11%, respectively. This year’s improvements to the Dynamic Island, first featured in the iPhone 14 Pro lineup, are available on all iPhone 15 models.
Roadside Assistance via Satellite
Apple has introduced a new safety feature called Roadside Assistance via satellite. This feature is designed to help users with car problems in areas without WiFi or cell signals. It connects them to AAA for assistance. If one activates a supporting iPhone, the service is free for two years and can be used by AAA members. For non-AAA members, it works on a cost-per-use basis. The Roadside Assistance via satellite feature was first introduced with the iPhone 15 generation, but it also works with the iPhone 14 generation. This feature complements the existing safety features, such as Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite.
Price
Except for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the prices for the iPhone 15 generation are the same as the iPhone 14 generation when they were first launched. The iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with a base storage of 256GB, which is twice the 128GB option available for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. As a result, the base model of the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $1,199, which is $100 more than the base model of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
